CPSTF nominations are underway until June 24, 2022.The Community Guide Office has issued a Federal Register Notice to solicit nominations for qualified individuals interested in serving on the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF). Members are appointed by the CDC director and serve five-year terms, with possible extensions. Selections will be made for appointments starting in January 2023 or January 2024. Nomination packages must be received on or before 5:00 p.m. EDT, June 24.

We are seeking nominees who are scientists, researchers or practitioners working in health-related areas all over the United States with national and international repute for their body of work on public health and other health-related disciplines. Nominees are selected to ensure that the CPSTF has a full complement of required expertise at all times. To obtain diverse perspectives, CPSTF encourages nominations of persons of all races, genders, ages, and persons living with disabilities.

For this nomination period, the strongest consideration will be given to people with expertise and experience in one or more of the following: social determinants of health or health equity, preventive medicine, public health preparedness and response, injury or violence prevention, public health policy interventions, and state-of-the art systematic review methods.

Any individual or organization can nominate a person for the CPSTF during the nomination period, as set forth in the federal register notice issued by CDC. Organizations and individuals may nominate one or more persons qualified for membership on the CPSTF and interested individuals can nominate themselves.

About CPSTF

CPSTF is an independent, nonfederal panel of public health and prevention experts whose members represent a broad range of research, practice, and policy expertise in community preventive services, public health, health promotion, and disease prevention. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services established CPSTF in 1996 to develop guidance on which community-based health promotion and disease prevention intervention approaches work, based on available scientific evidence.

CPSTF is supported by 32 Liaison organizations that represent federal agencies, including the Armed Forces, and national organizations invested in America’s health. CDC also works alongside CPSTF members and liaisons to provide both scientific and administrative support.

CPSTF findings are listed on The Community Guide website.
